'American Psycho' Author Encourages 'Kardashians' Star Scott Disick For Reboot
"Kardashians" star and Kourtneys baby dad Scott Disick continues to be because of the co-sign by "American Psycho" author Bret Easton Ellis to inhabit your skin of Patrick Bateman, a job made famous by Batman themself, Christian Bale. After news broke of the suggested remake from the 2000 film, reported by Variety now, Scott, who virtually may be the living embodiment from the The Big Apple yuppie/murdererOrexpense banker in look, charisma and elegance, required to Twitter to pitch themself because the perfect leading guy for that leading role. just heard there carrying out a remake of yankee Psycho! he tweeted. best news i've ever heard! i really hope they call me! While Ellis hasnt been reported to experience a part in the building of the remake, he did give Scott the thumps up, if he should land the role. (Full disclosure: we dont think hell have it, despite the fact that he totally should.) I've cautioned Lionsgate that I won't approve a brand new version of 'American Psycho' unless of course it stars SCOTT DISICK or MILES FISHER, he authored, later tease, I'm awaiting Scott Disick to request: Who within the hell is Bret Easton Ellis? But, Scott being the always awesome TV personality he's, rapidly put Ellis in the place, telling him, Not going to take place, I understand who u r! Presently the script, that was lately converted into the studio after being pitched captured, has been helmed by Noble Johnson, who done David Finchers The Social Networking, and can explore how Bateman would fare in modern-day Gotham. No matter exactly what does happen, Scott did win something now. He placed at #14 on our listing of the very best 50 TV figures of 2011. Get married prefer to think its a worthy consolation prize! Eliza Dushku Talks The League, a White Collar Return and What Really Matters to Her
Eliza Dushku She's battled Buffy, brought it on and made us want to play in the weirdest dollhouse ever, so it's no wonder we can't get enough of Eliza Dushku. But for those of you still not hip to the hotness that is Dushku, we're happy to say that she is more than just a pretty face who can kick ass. She's also a funny lady - as proven by tonight's bawdy guest spot on The League (10:30/9:30c, FX) - a budding filmmaker, and a philanthropist. Here, the multi-hyphenate fan fave discusses her latest foray into the funny business of TV and what we can expect from her in the coming year.TV Guide Magazine: So how did a nice girl like you fall in with The League?Eliza Dushku: They called, and Rick [Fox, her beau] and I had literally just watched a bunch of episodes we had downloaded. It's always weird how that happens. Something comes on your radar and then the phone rings. We're huge Curb fans, so we were familiar with [executive producers] Jeff and Jackie Schaffer, plus I think everybody knows I'm a huge sports fan. [Laughs]TV Guide Magazine: What did you think of the episodes you watched?Dushku: I think the show is so funny. I like the part-improv, part-scripted style, which is not something I've ever really done.TV Guide Magazine: That had to be a little intimidating.Dushku: It is! And yet, when you're doing it with people who are so good at it...they show up, have the outline of the scene ready and really deliver. The creators Jeff and Jackie are on set every second helping you with [all this]. So I think I was more intimidated before I got there and realized how much they participate. Then you get to just shoot a bunch of things and have the confidence that they'll pick your best stuff.TV Guide Magazine: What do they have you doing on this episode?Dushku: Kevin, who's played by Stephen Rannazzisi, is getting pressure from his wife, Jenny, to be more active and less of a fat ass, as she says. So she sends him to a Krav Maga class, and I play the instructor. He suspects that there is something more than just teaching going on between himself and my character, but he can't tell at first. Is it Krav Maga or is she hitting on him? Then it sort of escalates when he takes this back to his friends to see what they think, then we find out what is really going on at the end.TV Guide Magazine: Are you trained in Krav Maga?Dushku: I am not. But I am trained in being physical. I can take a guy down. [Laughs]TV Guide Magazine: How do you like doing comedy?Dushku: I love it! Of course, most people are more familiar with me from Buffy and Dollhouse, and more dramatic work. But Bring It On was in there, and I did Jay and Silent Bob with Kevin Smith. And it's always "the grass is greener." When you're doing a drama, you think, "God, I want to do a comedy," and then you do one and want to do something more dramatic. To mix it up and do something like The League is the ultimate.TV Guide Magazine: Would you consider doing another series?Dushku: After Dollhouse, I actually shot a comedy pilot over the summer that was from the producers of Two and a Half Men. And this was when it was questionable as to whether that show was going to return, and it was this really, really fun pilot. Then two days before the upfronts, the photos of Chuck Lorre and Ashton Kutcher having lunch together came out and it was like 'ohhhh man!' We thought maybe we'd get picked up, but CBS clearly filled that slot.TV Guide Magazine: I think your White Collar role earlier this season as the Egyptologist was the first time we saw you as a dressed-up grown up.Dushku: Yeah, I was a very dressed up in that, wasn't I? Those were my own shoes, I have to admit. I had to bring my own six-inch Prada pumps into the mix. [Laughs]TV Guide Magazine: Any chance we might see you back on the show?Dushku: They have talked to me about possibly coming back. That was so much fun...and the show is so great because it has that combination of the dramatic and the comedic to it. And I love Matt Bomer. He has been a friend since the Tru Calling days. In fact, I just found a picture of Matt and Zach Galifianakis from back in the day and they both look like babies!TV Guide Magazine: What is next for you?Dushku: My brother Nate and I have a production company, and we have been working for eight years on our Robert Mapplethorpe project. And over those eight years, when I was consistently working, it was really hard to get it finished. So we're focusing on that and developing another feature that I will probably act in, which is really exciting to me. It's a dramedy. And we're working on a documentary on Albania - I got my Albanian citizenship this summer - we shot a special that may turn into a series. It's sort of my love letter to Albania. I'm trying to diversify my portfolio, I guess! [Laughs]TV Guide Magazine: And those are really diverse.Dushku: Yeah, I know! I'm also working with my mother's NGO [non-governmental organization] as well. She started a group in Northern Uganda...she's 70-years-old and has been teaching African politics for so many years, but this was really her first project and I'm on the board. We're trying to build a center there for trauma, healing, reflection and the rehabilitation of former child soldiers and victims of the war in Uganda. That's a totally different world for me, but it's so cool. I was asked to speak at Harvard a few months ago about the work we're doing there. I'm definitely my mother's daughter, and that's a part of my life I never got to tap in to so much in the 20 years I was riding the acting thing. There is a lot I want to do and I feel like I have an opportunity to do it now and still stay in the acting world.TV Guide Magazine: It's nice to be at a stage in your career where you can pick the jobs you want to do, huh?Dushku: I'm so grateful that I have been able to get offers and say "This is a cool piece, but it's not exactly what I am looking to do." It can be hard, because parts of me go "Oh, I really want to work." But the truth is, I am working on like 15 different things that are part of the whole picture.TV Guide Magazine: Has Sarah Michelle Gellar hit you up for a guest spot on Ringer?Dushku: She is such a sweetie! You know, the life of working on a show, you're sort of in lockdown, and I think she's doing well with the show...but no, I have heard anything about a spot yet. [Laughs]TV Guide Magazine: Well you have been busy.Dushku: True. [Laughs] Oh, and I started a campaign on Crowdrise.com for my birthday this year, where we're trying to raise money for Uganda. We just added a YouTube video, too, because when we were in Uganda, we also shot footage - part of our program is using film therapy where we give the people there cameras. Instead of just taking videos, we have them shoot their own footage and tell their own stories. We posted a video of some of the trip on the Crowdrise page.TV Guide Magazine: When is your birthday?Dushku: December 30!TV Guide Magazine: Well that's a pretty awesome way to celebrate.Dushku: Thank you so much!To contribute to Eliza's campaign and help the former child soldiers of Uganda, visit crowdrise.com.Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now!

Comcast CFO: NBCUniversal Integration Continues to Go 'Really Well'
NY - Comcast's integration of NBCUniversal has continued to go "really well" and "according to plan," Comcast CFO Michael Angelakis told a Wall Street crowd here on Monday morning.our editor recommendsUnivision Vows to Remain Player in Soccer Despite Telemundo Winning World Cup RightsNBCUniversal Posts Mixed Third-Quarter Financials Speaking at the 39th annual UBS Global Media and Communications Conference in a fireside chat led by Aryeh Bourkoff, vice chairman, head of investment banking, Americas at the bank, he said that at the end of the year that saw Comcast buy a 51 percent stake in NBC Universal in January his company is "enthusiastic" about the entertainment company's business and its executives. "So far, so good," he said. Asked about the broadcast business, Angelakis reiterated that there are "some challenges" at NBC, but sees "great opportunities" and upside at the network and Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo. "They got to put better shows on," Angelakis said, but expressed confidence that the respective management teams will "deliver results over time." Discussing sports, Angelakis said "we're not interested in losing money on sports." He cited the recent soccer World Cup rights deal signed by Telemundo as "a game changer for Telemundo" that made sense because "we are a distant number two - we should do better." Importantly though, "we think we can make some money on it," he added. Asked about other parts of NBCUniversal, Angelakis said Comcast understands that the film business is volatile and hit-driven. Meanwhile, the cable networks are "really the driver of profitability" for NBCUniversal, and management is "delighted" with their performance, Angelakis said. Just like at USA, which has been the leading cable network for five consecutive years, the goal is to use original programming to help boost ad rates, carriage and affiliate fees, he said. Angelakis also said that advertising is holding up well across NBCUniversal and that demand for the Super Bowl and Olympics is robust. Meanwhile, NBCUniversal's theme parks business is also doing well, the executive highlighted. Asked about potential addition of Harry Potter attractions in additional theme parks, he didn't comment. But he said: "Harry Potter Orlando has really been a reset mechanism for that park." Neil Smit, the head of Comcast's cable systems, joined Angelakis on stage. "There is no tension here," Angelakis quipped when asked about retransmission consent fees that broadcasters have been getting from cable operators. "I don't think NBC is going to drive the market here," Angelakis said, but acknowledged that retrans fees are now a reality and here to stay. Asked about last week's $3.6 billion wireless spectrum deal between telecom Verizon and a group of cable firms, including Comcast, Angelakis said the deal is "strategically terrific and financially terrific." On the financial side, he highlighted that Comcast is getting $2.3 billion in the deal - a gain of about $1 billion compared to what Comcast paid for the spectrum. Smit said among the likely innovations are allowing consumers the ability to start watching a video on a wireless device and continuing to do so at home. The integration aspect of developing new concepts together will be a key benefit of the deal, he said. The partners will start promoting new bundles under the commercial arrangements of the deal early in 2012, Smit said, suggesting a possible triple-play bundle with security aspects added, as well as a quad-play offer of four services. What will the company do with the $2.3 billion in proceeds from the deal, Angelakis said he expects the deal to close in the next year and any new cash will go to whatever Comcast's capital plan calls for then. Asked about his thinking on offering channels on an a la carte basis in the future, Smit said the company is more looking at offering "more choice" via a smaller content package, called My TV Choice, that is being tested in three markets with 55-60 channels. Sports, movies and kids theme packs on top of that cost $10 each, he said. "I wouldn't call that a la carte," he added. While some cable operators have focused on the increasing financial contribution and growth of broadband Internet services, Smit told the UBS gathering that "video is still a core offering" and provides 53 percent of revenue, even though Internet services are the biggest growth driver. J.R. Martinez Invited to Pentagon After 'Dancing With the Stars' Victory
Bane, the massive brute of a villain in The Dark Knight Rises, is not like anything Batman has faced in Christopher Nolan's previous two franchise entries.our editor recommends'Dark Knight Rises' Director Christopher Nolan Reveals New Details About the Plot, Villain BaneThe Dark Knight Rises' Wall Street Fight Scene Resembles Pittsburgh Shoot (Video)Reese Witherspoon Plays Chris Pine, Tom Hardy in 'This Means War' Trailer (Video)Tom Hardy: What's Next for the Actor Played by Tom Hardy, the first glimpses of Christian Bale's on-screen nemesis have been quite imposing. And as Hardy and Nolan tell Empire Magazine, he makes for "the ultimate physical villain." PHOTOS: 'The Dark Knight Rises' First Look: On the Set "He's a great sort of movie monster," Nolan tells Empire, "but with an incredible brain, and that was a side of him that hadn't been tapped before. Because the stories from the comics are very epic and very evocative - very much in the way that Bruce Wayne's origin story is epic and evocative. We were looking to really parallel that with our choice of villain. So he is a worthy adversary." And that's not to say they don't play up the carnage. Hardy describes the film's carnage, previewed in recent amateur videos shot in NY and Pittsburgh, as brutal. "He's a wrecking ball," says Hardy. "He's horrible. A really horrible piece of work." Clashing with that many people is also a daunting task as an actor. Hardy, who's taken on physical roles before, admits found the fight choreography overwhelming at times. VIDEO: 'Dark Knight Rises' Fight Scene Hits Web "When you're training in a rehearsal room you go, OK, I have a contact with seven people," he says. "This guy I chin, this one I slip and I punch, this one I pick up and suplex, this guy I kick in the face and this one, he stops a hammer with his head. And then I meet Batman. That's all alright in a rehearsal room, but then you add 1,000 people that are all dressed the same as the seven you're supposed to hit." Still, from the way Hardy speaks of his co-star, the most daunting aspect of the shoot was going head to head with Bale. "He looks really intimidating," Hardy says. "There's a three-year-old in me that's going, 'Oh my God that's Batman! That's Batman and he's going to hit me! But I love Batman!' Then I look in the mirror. And I hit him back. Twice as hard." Nolan thinks his star more than rose to the occasion. "It's a very powerful thing when you see it come together, beyond what I had ever imagined," he says. Jin Lee/Bloomberg/Getty Images A federal judge in California has ignored a category action against Netflix that alleged the internet movie store hadstruck an illegal"market allocation" agreement with Walmart. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton handed Netflix a victory on summary judgment, discovering that the litigants couldn't show any collusive agreement.our editor recommendsNetflix Ex-CFO Works best for Venture Firm Involved with Company's Debt DealNetflix's Stock Drops as Company Alerts of Loss for 2012Netflix Stock Drops Below Year Low After Company Sells $200 Million in Bonds Accusations of Illegal Netflix-Walmart Agreement Result In Both Funds And Coming TrialNetflix Makes Lionsgate U.K. Streaming Deal Official Experts: CW-Hulu Deal Will Further Strengthen Network's Main Point Here After Recent Netflix Agreement The dismissal cuts short an effort which was tentatively scheduled for The month of january. The litigants introduced their states federal court last year, pointing for an agreement made between Netflix and Walmart 4 years earlier. PHOTOS: Netflix's 10 Most Leased Movies ever At that time, Blockbuster had just joined the DVD online rental market and gossips circulated that Amazon . com would soon perform the same. Netflix contacted Walmart inside a purported effort to push away the perceived Amazon . com threat. In the beginning, the talks went nowhere, however Walmart made the decision to exit the DVD rental business. In 2005, the 2 companies arrived at an offer on the so-known as "Promotion Agreement," whereby existing Walmart DVD rental clients could be moved forward to Netflix. Amazon . com didn't jump in to the DVD business, and Blockbuster later flopped, leading eight people to guide a category action suit that alleged that antitrust behavior between Netflix and Walmart had brought to greater prices. The litigants believed that damages might be up to $654 million. However, Judge Hamilton has limited an effort which was scheduled to featureNetflix CEOReed Hastingsas well as former top media professionals from Amazon . com, Walmart and Blockbuster. She ruled the litigants simply couldn't reveal that the "Promotion Agreement" was illegal. Based on the decision: "The Promotion Agreement on its face unveils a contract by both sides to attempt mix-marketing efforts regarding one another's complementary online DVD rental and purchasers services, considering Walmart's independent decision to exit the DVD rental market. Besides the agreement specifically acknowledge the 'independent character of Walmart's decision to exit the trade, however it in addition specifically states that Walmart is free of charge to re-go into the same market. Under these conditions, a legal court cannot agree the agreement on its face reflects a blatant agreement to get rid of Walmart in the online DVD rental market as a kind of market allocation." The category litigants have the freedom to appeal your decision, but meanwhile, they won't leave empty-handed. Walmart made a completely independent decision about last year to stay rather than investing cash on lawyers. Looking back, because of the judge's decision yesterday, Walmart appears to possess designed a $27.25 million error. That's the total amount that Walmart agreed to spend to be able to avoid these kinds action fight. The retail giant can't even claim that they can have saved much in legal costs. Walmart first arrived at a really complicated settlement using the litigants in December 2010that incorporated a pay-out range (between $29 million and $40 million with respect to the quantity of claims), that incorporated a sub-class of clients who leased Dvd disks online from Blockbuster, along with a provision where Wal-Mart had the authority to "blow-out" the whole settlement if your substantial part of potential class people elected-from the deal. The judge didn't such as this deal greatly, and Netflix objected too, resulting in seven several weeks of ongoing revisions before your final settlement was arrived at.Most significantly, the pay-out grew to become fixed and Blockbuster class people were removed. In September, a judge fortunate the settlement, resulting in an e-mail from litigants' lawyers about the other day to a lot of Netflix customers, telling them from the settlement. Per the agreement, all thosewho leased Dvd disks from Netflix anytime between May 19, 2005 and September 2, 2011 possess the chance to assert a bit of the $27.25 million pot as gift certificates or cash. Initially, Walmart's settlement was belittled by clients who worried these were only getting pennies around the dollar of potential damages. The aggrieved people noted the class action lawsuit lawyers would collect a quarter of the settlement fund, or nearly $7 million, as well as be refunded as much as $1.7 million in legal costs. Now, that remaining money looks an improvement on nothing. E-mail: eriqgardner@yahoo.com Twitter: @eriqgardner Netflix

Dancing With the Stars: J.R. Dances Through the Pain
J.R. Martinez "I was just completely off-key tonight," J.R. Martinez said as he limped off the ballroom floor during Monday night's semi-finals on Dancing With the Stars. The 28-year-old actor and Iraqi war veteran, who many thought was running away with the competition, was suddenly and very painfully hobbled Saturday by a sprained right ankle that twisted under him during rehearsals. "And it sucks because you let yourself down, you let your partner down."On Monday afternoon, his pro partner, Karina Smirnoff, was so concerned that she tried talking Martinez into taking a cortisone shot after dress rehearsals. "I was trying to convince J.R., who does not like any kind of drugs," she said. "But he said no. And at that point, even if he did get the medicine, it would've been too late for it to act."You could tell Martinez was in a world of hurt. And it only got worse, because during his first dance Monday night, the intense paso doble, he twisted the same ankle again. His expression after that dance said it all: How am I going to keep it together? He knew he had two tough dances to go, including the Argentine Tango, which requires demanding lifts. "In the lifts, I had to support her weight and my weight as well," said Martinez. "That was tough."You could read the concern on host Tom Bergeron's face, who, during the applause after each dance, quietly asked Martinez if he was all right. And it wasn't just the dancing that was wiping that winning smile off of Martinez's face. After each dance, he was forced to climb more than a dozen stairs to talk to co-host Brooke Burke Charvet in the skybox - not the kind of thing you want to do on a bad ankle. At one point he was hopping up the stairs on his left leg. "We needed an elevator tonight," said Smirnoff, laughing. "Yeah," added Martinez. "I wanted to tell Brooke, 'You come down here for once!'"So how did he make it through the two-hour show? "Karina was taking care of me, icing me and telling me to get off my feet," Martinez said. Added Smirnoff, "All athletes go through this. I don't think I've had a season without a cortisone shot because you pull muscles, you strain muscles, you rip muscles. It's part of dancing."Does Martinez still like his chances to win? "One thing about me?" he said. "I come back strong if given the opportunity."Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now!

Michele Bachmann Campaign Claims CBS Bias
Michele Bachmann Michele Bachmann's campaign claims it has proof that CBS snubbed the Minnesota congresswoman during the latest Republican presidential debate. Keith Nahigian, her campaign manager, posted an e-mail on her official Facebook page that was accidentally sent to the campaign from CBS News political analyst John Dickerson. In response to an e-mail about Bachmann appearing on a CBS webshow, Dickerson wrote, "let's keep it loose though since she's not going to get many questions and she's nearly off the charts in the hopes that we can get someone else." Watch videos of Michele Bachmann In the Facebook post, Nahigian slammed CBS and said the e-mail was proof that "the liberal mainstream media elites are manipulating the Republican debates by purposely suppressing our conservative message and limiting Michele's questions." CBS later defended the e-mail to CNN, calling it "a candid exchange about the reality of the circumstances - Bachmann remains at 4% in the polls." Dickerson also stood by his e-mail, tweeting "she's at 4% ... I was reflecting that."

Your #MuppetOscars Campaign is in Full Swing -- Is That a Good Thing?
It’s been roughly 13 minutes since Eddie Murphy departed as Oscar host, and already we have a strong frontrunner to replace Brett Ratner’s comeback kid: The Muppets. Supporters rallied on Twitter for their consideration, and now an official “The Muppets Should Host the 2012 Oscars” campaign has been launched on Facebook. We offered up the idea of a Muppet-emceed Oscars in our possible host roundup yesterday, but would the reality of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo at the dais be as enchanting as we want? Let’s consider that this Oscar campaign doubles as a publicity stunt ahead of The Muppets’s November 23 premiere. The convenience makes me cynical about the fast-growing cause, but of course, this entire cause is based in cynicism: Those backing the campaign have the same mantra: “Well, that’s an Oscars I’d watch!” Read: They’re not the regular Oscar viewership. I’m sure many of these same people were ecstatic to learn that James Franco and Anne Hathaway were going to host the show last year, as it represented a fresh, populist changing of the guard. We already catered to them once. Look what happened. I think it’s wiser to erase Ratner’s stench with a more reliable candidate like Tina Fey or Neil Patrick Harris before we hand over an entire ceremony to the Muppets. Furthermore, though Oscar hosts are mainly responsible for reading one-liners off a teleprompter, the essential element in an Academy Awards telecast is spontaneity. The Muppets would be cute as toastmasters, no doubt, but they’re just not able to be present and reactive. Could they respond to a hissing crowd? Bitingly? Could they gauge audience reactions at all? Most importantly, are they allowed to be sarcastic? Even the safest Oscar hosts (Billy Crystal, Ellen Degeneres) have to resort to sarcasm in order to level with the fickle home audience, and I just don’t know if a four-hour sequence of canned jokes, awkward staging, and vanilla humor will be that exhilarating. That said: I hope the Muppets present a big chunk of the technical categories. That’s where we need their sped-up, mechanized pep. #MuppetOscars Facebook Campaign

Here There (Zhe li na li)
A Beijing Xing Guang Heng Yi Culture Co. production. (International sales: Beijing Xing Guang Heng Yi Culture Co., Beijing.) Produced by Jia Hongwei, Guo Xiaowei. Directed by Lu Sheng. Screenplay, Liu Yong, Xu Yang, Lu.With: Bai Yanbo, Yao Anlian, Lu Yulai, Qin Wei. (Mandarin, Shanghainese, French dialogue)Tenuous links and plodding storytelling characterize "Here There," a lonely Chinese arthouse postcard from Nowheresville. Like many lensers-turned-helmers before him, Lu Sheng (who's worked with Jia Zhangke) gets lost in a loving engagement with imagery while the story takes a back seat. Fests will snap this up to round out their Asian programs, but "Here There" is unlikely to go anywhere near a commercial theater. Pic observes a deer herder (Bai Yanbo) trying to survive in inhospitable climes before jumping to a Shanghai restaurant where owner Lu (Yao Anlian) is training waiter Guoguang (Lu Yulai). Over dinner, Lu mentions he has a son living in Gaul, providing a link to a third strand about the struggles of a Chinese photographer (Qin Wei) in Paris. The helmer could have conveyed information with greater economy, taking an hour to establish a feeble connection between the first two strands. HD lensing exquisitely captures the snow-laden Chinese wilderness and Paris, but Shanghai is made to appear as dull as the characters there. Perfs by amateur thesps are just OK, and the indiscriminate direct-to-microphone sound, the curse of low-budget filmmakers everywhere, is annoying.Camera (color, HD), Lu; editor, Kong Jinlei; music, Moon Yongmin. Erectile dysfunction Zwick's 'Uncharted' Video Clip Explores Gallantry
Erectile dysfunction Zwick is better noted for his directorial focus on "Glory," "The Final Samurai," and "Defiance." If there is a consistent theme running with the films, it's the idea of heroics, people place into situations where they have to muster up their will when confronted with adversity. So, who better to make a video clip about gallantry (with regards to Sony's approaching "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deceptiveness" game)? Talking with Empire, Zwick mentioned he wasn't a gamer, but he was intrigued by the thought of speaking to a variety of people all connected with the overall game for some reason and asking these phones define what gallantry means. The "Uncharted" franchise produced by Naughty Dog and released by The new sony shows the continuing adventures of Nathan Drake, an immediate descendent of Mister Francis Drake. Another-person action game, "Uncharted" blends shooting with platforming and puzzle fixing. The series' third major release, "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deceptiveness" is delivering for that Ps 3 on November 1. If you are like Zwick, and also the last videogame you performed most likely involved a yellow ball eating whitened pellets, just realize that the "Uncharted" games are extremely effective. Among the title's most famous features may be the incredibly motion picture story and character performances woven in to the action. Drake is definitely an everyman by having an "Indiana Johnson" complex an evaluation that runs so deep The new sony even released this wonderfully strange commercial starring Harrison Ford in Japan. Talking about "Uncharted" movie adaptations, the film continues to be missing a director after David O. Russell walked from the project. For his part, Zwick does not appear too interested. Inadmissible Evidence
Douglas Hodge can be a middle-aged lawyer living the worst 24 several hours of his existence in Jamie Lloyds staging of Inadmissible Evidence.
A Donmar Warehouse presentation from the play by 50 percent operates by John Osborne. Directed by Jamie Lloyd.Bill Maitland - Douglas Hodge
Hudson - Daniel Ryan
Manley/Maples - Al Weaver
Mrs Garnsey - Serena Evans
Shirley - Karen Gillan
Pleasure - Amy Morgan
Liz - Esther Hall
Jane Maitland - Alice SandersWhen can be a play not just a play? When it's an aria, too as with the problem of John Osborne's 1964 drama "Inadmissible Evidence," a couple-and-a-half-hour mad scene. An endurance test with an actor, inside the wrong hands it risks being the identical with an audience. But director Jamie Lloyd and, especially, Douglas Hodge obtain the best possible situation with this particular problematic fantasia. Seeing Hodge's blistering performance is similar to being unable to tear yourself from the stand-up in enchanting meltdown. Just like Simon Gray's more famous "Butley" which adopted in this play's wake seven years later, "Inadmissible Evidence" dispenses with plot meant for showing the worst twenty-four several hours inside the central character's existence, with key players needing to pay visits regarding the comes lower to some monologue. Within the opening, as Hodge's middle-aged lawyer Bill Maitland is harangued within the ramshackle office having a judge (Daniel Ryan) perched atop a filing cabinet together with a clerk in the court (Al Weaver) looking at a chair, it's apparent that naturalism is is this is not on recption menus. By getting a long, unearthly groan of discomfort from Hodge, work proper springs to existence. Much-roughed up secretaries move interior and exterior the firing line and Ryan and Weaver return as fellow people in the firm reaching the conclusion from the tether utilizing their irascible but desperate boss, who never misses an chance to sneer their way. Lloyd shapes proceedings by heeding Osborne's indication that this is often a dream play. Everyone knows where we are due to Soutra Gilmour's terrific period-style group of a big, paper-tossed, dull inner office with floor-to-ceiling home home windows searching towards a wall a vast amount of-roughed up secretaries. Nevertheless the anchoring provided by her immediately identifiable setting frees Lloyd to lift Hodge's performance for the horrifyingly surreal. Beneath James Farncombe's marvelously queasy light making its way through bleary office skylights, Hodge counter-with ease scampers using the opening section with cunning comedy. He allows us to find out that his character reaches sight of crack-up, but pills, whiskey and bravado are seeing him through. Sweating and bursting from his ill-fitting three-piece suit, really the only connect with Hodge's latest stage role -- his Tony-winning Albin in "La Cage aux Folles" -- is his devastating timing. He changes direction of thought at warp-speed and includes the comedian's gift for getting a chance to stretch time apparently indefinitely. For a number of his almost non-stop tirade he's everyone else with the throat with everyone playing catch-up, because both he as well as the character think so thrillingly fast. The speed of his performance (inside an already trimmed text) is not virtuosic revealing but a perfect realization in the strategies by which Maitland is permanently abroad from themselves. Whenever he stops to check out his appalling associations along with his wife, his mistress, his co-employees and clients, he risks drowning inside the afraid self-loathing that fuels his every waking moment. Maitland's appalling sights round the women within the existence should result in the play unwatchable, but Hodge is actually charming that his attitudes appear self-lacerating. The truly upsetting factor in regards to the no-holds-bared performance could it be shows a man who knows themselves frighteningly well but tend to do nothing at all whatsoever relating to this. Shortly just before the ultimate section, he attempts to pull themselves together to help Maples (Weaver), a person billed with illegal homosexual behavior. To Maitland's silenced astonishment, Maples decides to plead guilty from pride (that is three years before homosexuality was legalized inside the U.K.). Weaver's high-chinned, fantastically distilled portrayal features a poised self-knowning that stands just like a chilling rebuke to Maitland's emotional staggering. It silences him, and perfectly produces Maitland's final terrifying attack on his daughter. The applause that greets Hodge's ultimate collapse can be as disquieting since it is appropriate to so epic a performance.Sets and costumes, Soutra Gilmour lighting, James Farncombe appear and music, Ben and Max Ringham, production stage manager, Sunita Hinduja. Happy End
A Nordisk Film release of a Zentropa Intl. Sweden, Trollhattan Film presentation and production. (International sales: TrustNordisk, Hvidovre, Denmark.) Produced by Madeleine Ekman. Directed by Bjorn Runge. Screenplay, Runge, Kim Fupz Aakesen. With: Ann Petren, Malin Buska, Gustaf Skarsgard, Johan Widerberg, David Dencik, Mariah Kanninen, Hanna Malmberg.Good intentions don't always lead to desired consequences in "Happy End," the latest feature from Swedish theater and occasional film director Bjorn Runge ("Daybreak," "Mouth to Mouth"). A small web of interconnected stories that fans out around an eager mother's difficult rapport with her thin-skinned artist son, the pic reps a typical slice of Scandinavian miserabilism, from its solid acting to its fairly straightforward aesthetic. Pic preemed at the recent San Sebastian fest and will be welcomed at other film events, though ever-after happiness is likeliest on the Euro tube. Widowed driving-school instructor Jonna (Runge regular Ann Petren) takes her grown-up son, Peter (Gustaf Skarsgard, Alexander's brother), back in after he suffers a breakdown and is abandoned by his pretty g.f. (Hanna Malmberg). Back home, the still-fragile painter falls for pretty Katrine (Malin Buska), Jonna's cleaner, who is herself involved in an abusive relationship with her b.f. (Johan Widerberg), who owes money to a thug (David Dencik). Visually more straightforward than "Mouth to Mouth," this depressing crisscrosser does feature one attention-grabbing sequence: a slow zoom that reveals ace thesp Skarsgard's face as he asks Katrine an important question.Camera (color), Ulf Brantas; editor, Lena Runge; music, Ebba Forsberg; production designer, Jette Lehman; costume designer, Anna Karlsson. 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's' Rooney Mara Softens Up for Vogue Cover
Vogue/Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott Rooney Mara, the star of David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, is on the cover of the November Vogue with a fascinating profile by Jonathan Van Meter. Perfect timing to publicize her much-anticipated film (as if it needed more hype) that opens Dec. 21. Van Meter notes that Mara landed the part of Lisbeth Salander which is "arguably one of the most coveted roles for an actress since Gone with the Wind, also a shrewd complicated difficult to love heroine capable of slaying a man." The role is certainly the most career-making or breaking. VIDEO: The Girl With The Dragon Tatto's Daniel Craig: Rooney Mara is Spot-On as Lisbeth Salander Fans of Steig Larsson's books and of the original film starring Noomi Rapace are going to be watching very carefully to see if Mara's performance meets or beats Rapace's. In Vogue, Fincher admits that he knows he's walking in other people's footprints. But he explains, "I am a contrarian by nature, so all it does is make me want to take real risks. I am like, 'If we are not out on the ledge juggling chain saws, then we are doing ourselves a huge disservice.' " The writer cannot help but notice the mentor-student electricity between Mara and Fincher, who also worked together on The Social Network (she was on the set for only four days). Daniel Craig, who plays crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist, has also noticed their eerily insync working relationship and says, "It's f---ing weird!" Fincher tells Vogue that initially considered Scarlett Johansson for the role. He says she gave a great audition but he didn't cast her because "The thing with Scarlett is, you can't wait for her to take her clothes off. I keep trying to explain this, Salander should be like E.T." PHOTOS: 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo': Images of Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara No question that Rooney's Salander is otherworldly looking. There's also no question that Mara will be this award season's best 'Get' for designers. Vogue has dressed her in some elegant gowns (Marchesa, Vera Wang, Calvin Klein, Bottega Veneta) that soften up her E.T.esque Salander look. But will she bring the punky Salander stye on the award season red carpets to help promote the film? Or downplay it to hammer home the transformation and her acting abilities? Mara's Elisbeth Salandar makeup was done by Pat McGrath and costumes were created by Trish Summerville. Rocker hairstylist D'Anilo cut her hair, shaved the sides, bleached her eyebrows and dyed her hair black. All in one sitting. Mara admits the brows were the biggest shock. Holy smokes!") delighted the A-list crowd.Requested backstage what value winning the Emmy may have on his career, Dinklage mused: "That'll be interesting. Who knows starting anything the way it will modify the public."Throughout his acceptance speech, Dinklage thanked his fellow nominees: "Mad Men's" John Slattery Andre Braugher from "Males of the Certain Age" "Justified's" Walton Goggins and "The Great Wife's" Josh Charles and Alan Cumming. "Seriously, some of everyone might be up here," stated Dinklage.Sure, nabbing the Emmy means days otherwise several weeks of boasting privileges for that recipient as well as an instantly identifiable marketing trademark to slap on network promotions and DVD sets.Matthew Weiner's "Mad Males" has won the outstanding drama Emmy each one of the four seasons it's been on. No mean task, Weiner told "The Hollywood Reporter.""It had been huge. It literally means publicity for that show," states Weiner.Julianna Margulies acquired the Emmy for lead actress inside a drama for "The Great Wife," an award she seemed to be nominated for this past year. But this season, CBS is moving "Good Wife" in the Tuesdays to Sundays at 9 p.m. where it'll have to contend with marquee dramas on cable including HBO's "Boardwalk Empire.""Everyday is really a fight over rankings," stated co-creator and executive producer Robert King. "So anything like that's good. With this proceed to Sunday we actually desire a greater profile."Laura Linney -- who had been the chances-on favorite to win the comedy Emmy that wound up in McCarthy's hands -- states for any newbie show, a nomination not to mention victory, is definitely an entre for audiences who might not have considered a reveal that goodies cancer of the breast like a comic device."For the show ["The Large C"], that was considered a dangerous undertaking, it validates that something about this is working," Linney told "THR." "That's excellent. And hopefully [that] can give those who are just a little nervous to look at it permission to stay tuned."PBS' "Downton Abbey" centered the recently combined movie and miniseries category, winning four Emmys on Sunday evening, including outstanding miniseries and supporting actress (Maggie Cruz), a lot more than "Mildred Pierce" or some of HBO's additional records. The course heretofore performed in the Emmy telecast just like a mid-show commercial for Cinemax. Creator and author Julian Fellowes indicated "Downton's" win like a David and Goliath story."Cinemax has tremendous advertising and marketing muscle behind it," stated Masterpiece executive producer Rebecca Eaton. "This really is in regards to a reveal that stands on its merits and also the Academy recognized that. I am very happy with it."Guys stated the Emmy is "recognition for the work." Along with the second season of "Downton Abbey" arriving The month of january 2012, that awareness could be critical. But, adds Martindale, "[I am] not receiving more offers because I am unavailable.InchBut unlike an Oscar -- which transmits customers towards the box-office -- the Emmy doesn't have the symptoms of much quantifiable value past the branding advantage of the tv industry's good housekeeping press.InchI believe its value is questionable," stated David Nevins, leader of entertainment, Showtime Systems.Nevins' is definitely an executive producer on "Friday Evening Lights," which finally received Emmy recognition for lead actor Kyle Chandler and executive producer Jason Katims, who nabbed the Emmy for drama series writing."It's a bit more questionable for network shows however for Showtime, there is no doubt it improves prestige and also the perception of quality. That is what we sell like a subscription, we would like individuals to seem like the very best shows in television take presctiption Showtime."For many series, the Emmy will keep participate a existence-stretching regimen otherwise a rankings bonanza. Fox's "Arrested Development" acquired five Emmys in 2004 because of its first season including outstanding comedy series, however it never grew to become a rankings hit. NBC's "30 Rock" is a perennial Emmy darling and it is still a rankings also-went."Anything that's very legitimate and mainstream that states 'good' is extremely positive for any show that's small from the small network," states Louis C.K., who had been nominated as outstanding actor inside a comedy for his semiautobiographical Forex series "Louie.""It does not always mean more and more people will watch it, however it will extend our time a bit more, maybe. And will also reward the network and also the people who allow me to get it done, that is what matters."Regardless of the Emmy does -- or does not do -- for his career, Dinklage comes with one practical use for that six-pound gold-plated bit of hardware."It is going to find yourself holding a door open inside my house."
